Precursors v0.4.26 — Into the Unknown

Rooms you haven't explored are now hidden behind Fog of War. Your Norns have to actually go there before you can see what's inside. It sounds simple, but it changes the feel of the whole game — there's genuine mystery in what lies beyond the next corridor, and watching a Norn wander into the dark for the first time actually feels like discovery.

They sing. They dance.

Singing and dancing now have proper multi-frame sprite animations. When a Norn breaks into song or starts to dance, you can see it. New romance occasions mean Norns sometimes sing love songs to each other. And if a particularly catchy tune gets stuck in a Norn's head, it might become an earworm cognitohazard — spreading through the population like a musical virus.

Alien voices

Norn speech has been re-recorded with Arabic and Hindi speakers, giving their language a genuinely alien quality instead of English-accented phonemes. Nornish was always meant to sound like something from another world. Now it does.
